Mali Passport Photos and Visa Photo Requirements – Rules, Guidelines, and Specifications

The more information you have on the Mali passport photo requirements, the better, which is why we chose to expand on a few of them. You may not be aware of this, but an improper passport photo is often the cause of rejection, and we do not want you to go through that.

  • One of the first things you have to do is to find the right environment in which you can take a valid passport photo or visa photo. We already mentioned that the background has to be white, but it should also be without shadows and patterns. You can take your picture against a white background, and if you do not have one, you can hang a white sheet on a wall and use that. It works just as well as long as it is not see-through.
  • The lighting is more important than you think. We all know that light can play tricks on someone’s face, which is why you should choose a frontal source. That way, you will not end up with shadows on your face. Be careful about the intensity too.
  • Before taking the picture, place the camera at your eye level. It provides the ideal angle. Keep your head straight and face forward. Remember that both sides of your face must be equally visible, which is why you should not rotate or tilt your head. Portrait-style photos will be rejected.
  • When taking the photograph, relax your face. You cannot appear smiling in your passport photo or visa photo. The only acceptable facial expression is neutral.
  • You are required to look straight into the camera when you capture the picture. That way, your eyes are perfectly distinguishable. Remember that they cannot be obstructed by anything, such as your hair or glasses. If you own clear glasses, you can keep them on for the photo. Just do not forget to check the picture for flash reflection. Sunglasses and eyeglasses with tinted lenses have no business being in a passport photo or visa photo, so take them off.
  • Headwear is not allowed in a passport photo or visa photo unless you are bound by your religious beliefs to have your head covered at all times. If that is the case, you have to make sure that the headwear does not cast shadows on your face. At the same time, your face must be visible from the bottom of your chin to the top of your forehead and from ear to ear.
  • You are not obligated to shave your beard if that is how you usually look like. The picture must represent your everyday likeness.

Rules and Requirements for Babies, Infants, and Newborn Passport and Visa Photos

Did you know that children of all ages are required to hold their own individual passports and visas? That means you have to take their pictures too if you want to travel together. MyPassportPhotos can help you out with that as well. We even have a few useful tips for you.

  • Please photograph your children when they are awake because their eyes must be visible too.
  • You are required to remove the baby’s pacifier, headwear, toy, etc.
  • If you want to hold the baby during the photoshoot, remember that no part of you can show up in the passport photo. Not even your hands.
  • Lots of parents choose to photograph their children in a car seat because it is far more comfortable. There is nothing wrong with the solution but remember to cover the backrest of the chair with a white layer. The background still needs to be white.
  • Another solution is to place the baby on his/her back and take the picture from above. As long as you put a white sheet underneath the baby, you are good to go.
